Funded through the federal Child Care and Development Fund, overseen by the New York Office of Children and Family Services, and administered locally by the Onondaga County Department of Social Services, it helps income-eligible working and student families pay for licensed care, with a family share tied to income.
New York has widened CCAP eligibility in recent years, raising the income ceiling and reducing or capping family shares for many households, so it is worth reapplying even if you were over the limit before. Heads up. CCAP is administered county by county, and funding and waitlists vary. Apply through the Onondaga County Department of Social Services, confirm your chosen provider is OCFS-licensed and accepts CCAP, and keep your eligibility paperwork current before you count the subsidy in your budget.
